Our Journey

Car Wash Installers represents the culmination of decades of industry experience and expertise. Our story begins in June 1986, when our founder, John Schmelebeck, started as a manager of a full-service car wash and detail center, laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong commitment to the car wash industry.

Milestones

In 1996, John’s expertise was recognized when five investors approached him to design their car wash facility. This project showcased John’s ability to not only install equipment but also successfully manage operations, as he ran the facility for a full year after installation.

March of 1998 marked John’s first venture into business ownership, with the acquisition and operation of five self-serve locations with automatics. This hands-on experience provided invaluable insights into the operational aspects of car wash facilities.

Industry Leadership

From 2008 to 2020, John expanded his expertise working with an industry leader, and under their name, performing installations of PDQ automatics and McNeil tunnels. When the company was acquired by an investment group in 2018, John continued his commitment to excellence, installing car wash tunnels for the corporate division.

Since establishing Car Wash Installers as an independent business in 2023, we’re proud to provide personalized service while leveraging our extensive industry experience to benefit our clients.
